Navigation Map Update

Do they really key the disks? I kind of doubt it. My guess is they just hash the unit number into an activation code that they give you, and that all the disks are the same. Basically a key generator. I really doubt they press custom disks in an hour (mine shipped within an hour of ordering).

It does it so rarely that I didn't realize it did it until my wife pointed it out after I had been driving the car for months.

Hi everyone,
After 5 years, I bought the new map update from Navteq for $99, 2 weeks ago, and had the dealer install it for $128. After installation, while still at the dealer's, I checked the map veriosn, and it stated "12-13 YEAR". I called Navteq, and the agent said it should say "13-14 YEAR". I told the service rep, who was clueless about this and said that they just put in the code the customer gives them. He showed me the printout from the installation.
I called Navteq again from home that day, and another agent said it should read ""; she also could not find my VIN associated with the code; she then gave me a new code; I took it to dealer again, and installed it; it still reads version "12-13 YEAR"!!
The service rep has no idea how to fix this. I've emailed nav teq and waiting to hear from them.
Any one with similar situation?

tks for the heads up, I finally order mine for $99, when I purchase my 2009 g37xs in December 2012, the navigation was never updated and the cost for that code was almost 250 Canadian. Hope the map version say 13-14 YEAR

Yes, took forever. I sat there playing games on my tablet for a while, then said screw it and went into the house and set a timer. Ran through probably two gallons of gas---so figure that into the price, lol.

Would it not work if you update this thing while driving the car? Figure I might as well take a trip somewhere while the disc loads. I'm thinking of doing this for my '11 G37S soon. Good to know it doesn't require the dealership's attention.

For those of you who did a map update AND have SiriusXM... Did the map update have any effect on your subscription status? (That is, did you have to call them up and have them "re-hit" or "refresh" your receiver, etc.?)

jesus didn't know a nav update would be so expensive for something i can use my iphone for dafuqqq. my nav needs an update though, there have been a few occasions where my nav was conbsiderably inaccurate, specificly on house numbers.
