Is this FAIR? (Navigation System Update)
Let me know if I'm being ****.. I just purchased a '10 G37S Coupe last Saturday and realized on Wednesday that the Navigation hasn't been updated. Should the dealer absorb the cost of this update since I JUST purchased the car?
I know it's not a NEW car, but it's NEW to me and I feel it should have a properly functioning navigation unit.. It doesn't even recognize the street that I live on and my house and neighborhood was built in 2006.

You can ask, but you'd probably have had a better chance if you'd asked them to update it before purchasing. It's obviously not something they owe you but they may do it in the name of customer goodwill.
And yes you are being ****. But it's OK, many of us are.

LMAO ok... I just feel like I would not have had a reason to even use the GPS while at the dealer.. I knew where I was LOL and the only way I would have known it wasn't updated was to take it home. I did ask, they said no.

The maps are woefully bad in some areas. Even the latest update will still have things that are years behind. My subdivision has even here since about 2000 or so. My 08 shows the streets but none of them have names.

I just bought my CPO G in June and didn't expect the nav system to be updated. Like BB said, you're being ****, but that' ok. Most of the owners on this forum are **** and really like our cars!!

I had the same thought when I bought mine. Dealers will drag their feet...I tried to just get a full owners manual and that went no where. My nav doesn't recognize my street either so I feel your pain

I just picked up a White 2011 G37S Sedan with 32k miles on it.
The dealer refinished three of the wheels (curb rash), replaced the driver's armest and put 4 new Miichelin PSS on for $27k.
When I asked about updating the nav they would not do it. They said they were barely making any money on the car as it is (BS).
Before the G37 I used a Garmin with 6 year old maps and never had a problem plus I can always used my Android if i need more up to date maps.
I used it on my Harley and traveled from Maine to the Mohave Dessrt (Calif) and never had a problem..

****? Yes but were all **** to some degree like BB said. The car was sold as is, if you wanted the nav upgraded, it should have been a contingency of the sale. You might be able to negotiate a split in the fee though as part of customer good will

It's interesting that you can buy a Garmin for $100 with lifetime maps and Infiniti wants to charge almost twice that to update EVERY YEAR. On top of that, the Infiniti maps are crap, at least where I live (coastal Maine). I complained to Infiniti about the maps when I first got my G37X coupe new in 2011 and they offered no solution. When they sent me a notice of an update, I complained again and asked if the update would be any better. They didn't know, but they offered me the update for free. I installed it, but it is not any better than the original. My $100 Garmin is way better. I would never buy a Nav system with an Infiniti again.

From the map screen hit the info button on the right side of the round ****, the touch Navigation Version icon. It will show what version the system is running. From what I have read they update the map software every 2-3 years.
