SiriusXM=weird business model . . .
My (1) year $70 radio only subscription expired 9/14 and the radio stopped working 9/21. I call and am offered 1 year at $128, then 1 year at $94 and finally 6 months for $50. I cancel and get told I own them $7.82 for the time since my subscription ended! I tell them to pound sand and I have no control over the signal then send to my radio and get a credit for $7.82.
Today I get a letter and signup for $27.24 for six months total cost. It seems it would be better just to offer the good rate at the beginning and not waste everyone's time?

I found the same thing out
just wait a few days after your trial expires. Tell them your friend has xm and pays $25 for 6 months. They will give it to you
BUT please be aware after the 6 months they will bill you full price for a year. Watch your statements. After a few weeks, call back and get the 6 months for $25 again.

It seems like their business model is predicated upon getting something for their signal. They'd rather you pay more $$$ but will settle for you paying $25 for 6 months and finding that you really want the service.
Way back in 2005, they offered "lifetime" subscriptions for less than $500. I ended up purchasing 4. Two for our vehicles and one for my father and the other for the father in law. Although the upfront cost was big and I was taking a risk that the company wouldn't fold, I ended up making out great since I know enjoy Sirius XM for free.

I have been getting their discounted rate ever since the original free 90 day subscription ran out when I bought the G37 in March of 2010.
I call up the day before the discounted 5 or 6 month period is over and tell them to cancel me.
While they are cancelling me they offer a one year for xx amount and when I refuse it they come up with a better price.
I refuse it also and tell them that they have my e-mail address so they can notify me when they have another good discount for a 5 or 6 month period.
They have always come up with a good discount rate of approximately $25 before taxes, etc. So the real cost is around $31.00 for 5 or 6 months.
Once I forgot to call up before the discounted time frame ended. I just had to pay the normal rate for the week or so that I went over and then started another discounted rate.
