MirrorTap Install on 2011 G37 Sedan

I have been at it for 3 hours now and cannot get the prongs from my MirrorTap into the Molex plug. I found a couple other threads of people having problems but none have had a solution that worked for me besides keep trying.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks on how to get the prongs into the connectors? It is such a tight fit the prongs barely go in at all. I tried wiggling the cords that go into the molex adapter around to loosen them up with no luck.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

UPDATE: After even more hours trying to pry the prongs into the Molex adapter, I finally gave up. Ended up cutting the rubber coating around the wire bundle, removing rearview mirror, splicing the Black and Brown wires and connecting the prongs directly to the middle of the wire, then electrical taped them back together and put everything back together.

Total process took about 45 minutes and used: electric tape, exacto knife, and a star wrench to remove the mirror.

Sorry buddy! You can just unplug the harness from the mirror, use a key to pry out the white part of the clip out. This releases the clamps holding the wire loom in place. THEN you insert the wire tap, and close the white part of the clip again to secure everything, and pop it back into the mirror.

If you need, I can post pics.

I mean its kind of late for me now, but I had no idea I could take apart the Molex adapter. I know exactly the white and black part you're talking about and thought about trying to open it to insert the prongs, but the guy I talked to at Autozone said that couldnt be done. Could you please post pics anyways, it may help someone else in the future, I wasn't able to find any thread online that mentioned that as an option, which is what also made me hesitant towards trying that.

I'm taking the G in for a dyno run and a tune tomorrow. I'll snap some pics then. Sorry I didn't help you in time. It looks like you took care of it anyways!

Also, I would not get in the habit of taking everything the autozone guys say as gospel.

are you trying to hard wire a radar detector?

if so, our cars and some Nissans need the wires with smaller ends

its worth it to order the $10 part vs struggling to make one fit
