Engine info on media screen...how do I do it?

Hi
I was looking at some pix on the site and saw that someone had been able to use the media screen to display engine info. Fluid temp, pressures, injector info...all kinds of stuff. i figure it's gotta be something that plugs into the diagnostic port and links into the aux video input. I've had no luck finding what it could be, or where to buy it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

thanks
Dirty

Which thread were you looking at? A lot of the forced induction guys are running computers like HKS Camp II through the aux port on older models.

If it's a proggy do I need a cable connected to the diagnostic port?

I believe that is the HKS Camp II. Discontinued.

Do I need to have a Blower or a Turbo to use it? Or if there is something similar for just injected 3,7's?

I saw, on here, where someone ran a computer through their stock monitor with Cipher diagnostics. Still trying to figure out how to do that for race days.

You can use it on a stock car. Except they don't make or sell them anymore.

You need an OBD2 reader/transmitter such as this (PLX Devices Inc - USA) + phone or tablet app + connection from phone/tablet to the AUX inputs and voila', gauges on the screen. You can also then go more extreme and get a system to control the phone from the touchscreen which is what I have done, but it is waaaaaay more work and cost.

Other option is similar to the above and involves a full on carputer. Check out Modme's threads about that. He was the pioneer in that regard.

Why do you want your gauges on the nav screen?

Oh I was referring to the OP because he hinted he was not going for boost.

How do your gauges look on your screen AlKatraz?

lol what gauges? Aside from gas and water temp tach and speedo there are no gauges. I like to watch my oil pressure and temp, battery charge, basically any feed back from the engine I can get. I LOVE MY G37! but two things bother me 1: is the bloody drive by wire gas pedal and the way it limits the acceleration during initial launch 2: the lack of gauges, for a high performance car you would think they would put an oil pressure or amp meter gauge, anything to give the driver some feedback. I saw the gauges on the nav screen and thought "what a great idea" IMO Infiniti should offer it as an option, or better yet make it standard equipment. I could put some aftermarket ones in on the a post or on top of the dash even in the ashtray spot. But I like the clean look of the car as it is now. I think it would be a better use of that screen for me anyway as I don't have (or need) the nav system.
Thanks for the info guys, I'm going to look into what I can do to make it happen for me. More ideas, info, links, pics, hints...lol they are always welcome
cheers

In that case, look into a 1.5" screen that you can basically squeeze in your ashtray or sunglass holder:
Zada Tech - Oil Temperature OLED Gauge

These are the same guys that did my gauges but I'm not sure you'd be interested in an A-Pillar screen like this one
