Alpine considered Top Quality?

Crutchfield has "buy one get second pair at half off" for Alpine speakers. I was thinking of getting all replacement speakers for the coupe as I have a new amp I bought last year to replace some speakers and add a sub.
Thoughts on Alpine?

yes they still make good equipment.

there are alot more independent brands now that make higher quality items but for the most part, Alpine makes good stuff.

If you dont have a strict budget there are better choices

They're not considered higher end either. They are good for a budget.

Alpine makes a quality product for a fair price IMO. Top of the line? That's a tough questions

There was a time in the not so distant past (for some of us) that Alpine was indeed an elite brand of mobile audio gear, particularly head units. I remember when it was a big deal that Alpine came as a stock head unit in Lamborghini. However like most players that produced high end audiophile gear in the 80's, they now produce more moderately priced mid level equipment. They're not flea market trash by any stretch but not a "top" brand IMO. As far as speakers go, there are much better components out there and some are relatively reasonably priced.

Alpine is a higher end mainstream/best buy company. Dyn, HAT, Focal to name a few will deliver better sound quality. If you are looking for a decent sounding system and you are not wanting to sheel out $$$$ for high end amplifiers and processors, then Alpine will be fine. Listen to the in the store, even though that will not give you a true sound when they are in your car, but you can tell if they will be too bright or warm for your listening pleasure.

Oh...and crutch field and big box store prices are way high. You're better off giving your business to the local small car audio shop. They'll probably be more apt to help you with questions as well.
