System Set Up

Is it possible to build a system and keep the Studio on Wheels?

I am looking to add the following:

Front: Focal K2 165 KRX3
Subs: 2 x Focal K2 27KX

Amps: Eclipse EA4000
Amps: 2 x Eclipse XA2000

I want to build specific kick pods for the components up front.

Would this sound bad because I still have the SOW set up?

I think you'll find that the added drivers and amp will easily overrun the SOW system and you'll have to seriously turn down the gain on the aftermarket bits to even have a hope of blending it in. I'm also thinking that putting two 6.75 mids and inverted dome tweeters into a front stage that already has two 10" subs (stop laughing now), two soft dome tweeters and two 3.5" paper mid is not only going to be physically crowded but sonically crowded as well. Best case at 93db/watt, the Focals will just flat out overpower the SOW. Worst case, there going to fight each other and you will lose virtually all of your soundstage in favor of volume. IMHO, if you're going to put that much coin into the audio of your G, why not take out the Bose bits and done with it?

+1

Are you in a coupe or Sedan? If coupe, then I would replace the "subs" in the door with midbass, replace the midrange 3" and upgrade the tweets and have a 3way front stage and place the sub in the trunk. No need for rear fill as the back seat is really just for show (at least in my car). I am debating on going HAT L6 L3 and L1 in mine when I return from this "trip" to the desert.

What is this Studio on wheels? I've never heard of this term. Do what I did and buy another car that's easier to put a system in .

Take out whatever audio set up you have and install the Focals. Your ears will be much happier.

Buy a quality processor and you will be set.

I have a sedan. I am still deciding on a processor, either MS8 or Bitone. What fits in the center channel?

Any opinions between BitOne and MS8?

So for my set if I remove the Bose stuff, what if I kept the rear's for rearfill and center channel off the bose but upgrade everything else, think that would be ok?

I currently run a bit ten D and it works great if you need a 2 way front stage and a sub
5 channels total)

if you need more channels for a 3 way front then a bit one would be the better choice.

I only run a front stage and it sounds amazing.
The factory rears cant keep up with the fronts, so I disconnected them.
Plus it helps with staging, if that's what you are going for.
Totally up to you but if you are wanting to do time alignment or a higher end set up, the rear channels may need to be upgraded or removed/disconnected.

I didn't have the Bose set up in my car.

I would unplug the center channel if I had it.
If its something you would like for a 5.1 set up, then I would upgrade the center channel.

what are your goals with the set up?

Do you want a 5.1 set up?
Loud and clear?
Strictly sound quality?

its possible to do both

budget and install skills are your limit.

id run a bit one and spend hours adjusting the time alignment

what is your budget?

they do make 5 channel amps but then you would only be able to run components with a crossover or coax. You would need a 8 channel amp or run two amps with a combined 8 channels, 8 channel = front left tweet, front left mid, center, front right mid, front right tweeter, rear right door, rear left door and a sub.
