USB stick for audio
2011 G37xS with navi. Can I plug a usb stick with music and movies and be able to play and control it from the radio? I haven't taken delivery of my car yet, few more days but trying to get info ahead of time.

I think there is a limit on the # of audio files the radio will recognize. At least in my Camaro there is a limit of around 2500. so a external hard drive is probably overkill.
Since there is no music box on my 2013 I am going to start throwing everything on these mini USBs

I just went old school putting mp3 or WAV files on the USB drive.
I put the drive in my computer opened libraries(windows 8) opened my music and then copied/pasted all the artists I wanted to drive D (the usb drive) The G has Nav so it displays the folders by albums(not the artists like I copied) and several options for playback, ie: 1 folder, All, Random.
On my Camaro (no Nav) I have to use the select/ menu buttons on the radio to do the same thing but it shows in the display essentially the same stuff. Random, repeat artist Etc. Tune **** scrolls through song lists etc. I would think the Non Nav G series would behave similar.
I am still playing with the G only 800 miles on it and still getting familiar with the radio (without Musicbox ).
anyway this way works on both vehicles.
You may have to format the USB to remove all the excess crapola that comes on them from the manufacturer. I don't know if it makes a difference, I just format them out of habit.
Below is the screen on Windows 8 I used, older windows versions are similar.
I hope this helps.
