Radar detectors with a laser detector addition are next to useless for detecting laser, as its close to a pinpoint of an area they have to catch, and in most cases cops shoot at your headlights or license plate. So chances of your 9500ix going off during a LIDAR scan is 1% if anything.

The only real way to avoid LIDAR is with laser jammers.

The same exact statement could also be said about radar detectors and be true (maybe a couple of seconds apart, not enough to slow down).

The fundamental difference between laser and radar guns needs to be explained here, try again?

Agreed... have two Valentine Ones and one 8500. The 8500 stays in a box.

I'm a fan of both, personally. Radar detectors can be used to tell you when you need to slow down pretty effectively. Unfortunately, if you pick up on a laser clocking you, it is already too late. Lasers are like instant death as it actually is targeted at one car at a time, whereas radar surveys an area and can include several vehicles.

escort 9500 is by far the BEST DAMN INVESTMENT I HAVE EVER MADE for my car...

going on 2 years strong with no speeding tickets.... it picks cops up from far away and in my area is damn good with the red light cameras.... Also i love the fact that it has gps and when you go to a spot with a false alarm 3 times in a row it locks it out...

so many times i avoided being hit by radar.. What others said about laser is true... Usually they dont hit you with it until its too late.. But in my area they rarely use laser guns. these detectors arent 100 percent stealth, but they areee worth the money

funny story for ya... Last week coming home from work, this punk in a maxima and his girl in his car was edging me trying to race.. i didnt wanna do it, i just wanted to get home.. soo he kept downshifting and speeding up and crap till it pissed me off... KA BAND comes up on my radar, soo i just smiled, downshifted and punched it for a second then hit my brakess... the kid was flyingggggg down the road, and what do you know.. there was a cop in a ditch in the road. He pulled out and chased right after that car.. I wish i coulda got that on camera.. This detector is sooo on point

I have had a Beltronics RX65 for about 5 years now, and it's been a life saver. The last time it saved my *** was last night on the 405 when it gave me a heads up on a pretty well orchestrated speed trap.

I completely disagree with the notion that laser detectors are useless. There's been times when I was planning on flooring the throttle or was already accelerating and hit the brakes because I heard a beep. Driving 5 MPH faster or slower is quite significant when dealing with ancient and retarded speeding laws.

Radar\Laser detectors are not perfect and will sooner or later let you down. They are just a tool that help you minimize the chances of getting pulled over or at least help you minimize your offense.

Radars are definitely worth the investment. I have a 9500ix, and it has saved me from receiving countless tickets. I'd certainly look into purchasing one, it won't let you down!
