Alien growth has invaded my LCD screen..
yes,. I'm a newbie (basically joined to try to find info on the subject, no luck in a search).
Just 5 months out of warranty on my 2008 G37s coupe w/touring&nav., I noticed a small anomaly on my LCD screen.
and over the course of a week, it seems like each morning i start it up it's grown bigger! who knows how bad it might evolve!
it's not my daily driver, so kinda sucks that with only 23,000 miles it's developed this.
While I park the car outside, I leave the windows rolled up in the winter, so there's no moisture in the car.
So figured I'd throw it out there to see if anyone else here has heard or seen such a thing and has any advice or know someone in the San Fernando Valley (Sherman Oaks) who does repairs, as i fear a dealer might screw me on a new LCD and a hell of a lot of labor..etc.
check the pics and thanks!

That's what I kind of fear.
but sure is odd, it's not like I dropped the car or hit a pothole or anything.
I called the local dealership to get a quote,. and the tech says that he's seen it before and would call me back with a (probably ridiculous) quote. ugh
I can handle wear and tear and mechanical things breaking, but electronics is that goes wonky is annoying.

So the dealer got back to me,. said there was no technical/firmware things that would fix it.
And that it would require a replacement of the whole instrument cluster.
3-5 days (they'd have to order the part once I took it in)
$980 parts and labor.!
fun fun.
I'm gunna try to get some second opinions from a independent shop(s), as the last thing I wanna do is give a dealership my $ for part that shouldn't go bad on a 4.5yr old premium vehicle.
and recommendations on local shops?

Yah,. there def seems to be a number available for around $200, so hopefully a local shop can help me sort it out (and labor isn't too crazy).
(btw,. nice taste in cars.. I got my G37 because I was tired of my '91 300zx of nickel and diming me, but when the Z went kaput last year, I traded it in for a 2012 Mazda3 hatch)
