G37 Bluetooth disconnecting iPhone5
Good afternoon everyone,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o> </o>
I wanted to relay a Bluetooth problem that I am having with my 2009 G37xS Sedan (NON-NAV*) and my iPhone5 (iOS 6.0.1)<o></o>
<o></o>
<o></o>
<o></o>
I just upgrade my iPhone from a 4G to the 5 and I am now unable to maintain the Bluetooth connection between the phone and the car for the handsfree functionality. The older iPhone 4G never had this problem.<o></o>
<o></o>
<o></o>
<o></o>
Incoming calls:
The iPhone engages the handsfree system, it rings in the cabin, I hit the call/answer button on my steering wheel and the Bluetooth connection drops but not the call... the iPhone5 goes into handset mode and the handsfree system is just dead air. I can reengage the handsfree by unlocking the iPhone and selecting the "Bluetooth Handsfree" Audio devices in the call interface.
Outgoing calls:
I hit the call/answer button on my steering wheel, step through the voice prompts to call a number, the handsfree pass the request to the iPhone5 which dials but then the Bluetooth connection drops but not the call... the iPhone5 goes into handset mode and the handsfree system is just dead air. I can reengage the handsfree by unlocking the iPhone and selecting the "Bluetooth Handsfree" Audio devices in the call interface.
I have placed calls to my local dealer, Apple Canada and Infiniti Canada. The Apple support person wasn’t aware of a problem but my local dealer reported others have the same problem, plus Infiniti Canada said that I was the second call that they had that day on the problem.<o></o>
<o></o>
I am not sure if there is a thread started on this or not (I did do a search but didn’t find this exact problem) so I wanted to let people know and discuss it. Infiniti USA does have a Bluetooth website which will show what phones work with what models of their cars or trucks plus you can check on what’s being tested... a simple Google search will provide you with the URL.<o></o>
I think it's important that anyone with the same problem call Infiniti’s USA/Canada Bluetooth support lines (the number is available when you call the main support and request it) and report the issue so that it can be escalated... it is a dangerous problem that us G37 drivers have to deal with.<o></o>
<o></o>
If you do have a G37 and an iPhone5 that is working without any problems, I would love to hear what make/model of G37 (NON-NAV*) you own and what iOS you are running. <o></o>
<o></o>
Thanks for your time<o> </o>
*I made sure to say that I have NON-NAV as there is a known issue with NAV systems dropping calls, which is a separate problem from this one.

I am sorry about the formatting of my post... I typed it up in MS WORD to avoid spelling and grammar mistakes.... if you need me I'll be posting a complaint on the MS site about hidden/unwanted carriage returns!

I too have that same call droping issue with an Iphone 5 IOS 6.01, but I have NAV on my 2010 G37x. Apple also thinks its a bluetooth connectivity issue with the Infiniti. The dealer will do some sort of update next Wednesday, ?? You mentioned that with NAV there is a known issue, does anyone know what it is ?
To follow up, after speaking to Infiniti Canada just now, they said Nissan is aware and is working on it ?? In the meantime I was told to try to connect the phone as an Audio player, I have not tried it yet, he said...once in the car and the Iphone connects as usual, go to settings, select bluetooth, select conneceted devices, select Audio Player, select Iphone5...connect
The guy thinks that will allow us to hear incoming calls instead of it being dropped or going off the bluetooth....I guess uintil they find a fix
I will post if it works

It's good to see I'm not alone with the iphone 5 Bluetooth problems. I too had no problem with the Bluetooth on my older iphone 4. I'll give Infiniti a call tomorrow and add my name to the list of unhappy people.

Hopefully enough owners will complain to Infiniti / Nissan and Apple.
PS the latest IOS 6.02 did not resolve it either
