iPhone 5 Compatibility w/ G37

Anyone know if the new iPhone 5 will work seamlessly with our G37s in terms of audio output (music, audiobooks, sound from apps)?

It does have a new "Lightning" connector and new operating system (iOS 6).

How could this possibly have been verified by anyone when the phones aren't released for 2 more days? Do you want someone to just give an answer that they just pulled out of their butt with no facts behind it? I'll oblige you.

Yes, they'll work seamlessly.

Actually, I was hoping that someone (smarter) who works for Infiniti (or even Apple) who knows a lot about their electronics would respond to this post. People from Infiniti do come on here.

And in case you didn't know, the phones have been released already to journalists and they are testing them. Maybe they tried it on a G37?

Well in that case, I'll step back and humbly let the smart Infiniti and Apple employees and/or journalists who have access to the car and the phone and who also happen to frequent our forum handle the question.

Speak up guys, this is your time to shine.

The phones haven't been released to journalists. Only a few developers that work closely with Apple have worked with it under Apple supervision. Apple is very strict about handing their phones out to journalists...no way an Infiniti employee would get their hands on one.

some phones have been delivered already. saw an unboxing video today.

i'm gonna go out on a limb here, and as betty said i cannot verify this, and say that they will NOT be compatible.

rumor has it that the 9 pin connector, even though you can get an adapter for it, will not work in cars via the oem cable, OR usb port. this is due to the way the cable is wired. i read an article that stated you will be able to stream music via the cable/adapter, but controls are lost.....and obviously it won't be able to be charged if you have an older model G due to the voltage issue

Yeah...unless it gets delivered early. That's about the only way to get your hands on one.

Why would Apple make it so it's not compatible with the 3 and 4?

The 4 is compatible just like the 3 was...I just don't see why they would make the pin out different just to make it incompatible.

I would imagine there will be adapters for the 19 pin on the new phone that will allow it to work. I could see there easily being an adapter for USB...the larger problem is things like docking stations that connect through the old 30 pin connector.

The iPhone 5 Lightning Adapter Won’t Work With Video Or iPod Out Accessories, But It Will Play Music [Updated] | Cult of Mac

the controls won't work, and we may not even get song displays properly on our G screens.

I Run 4S 6.0, no issues except the charging on my 2008 and I have a Scosche Adapter for that, far as Working with the IPOD Integration, it will work fine, you can buy a Lightning Adapter, Will convert any 30 Pin into Lightning port and all acessories will work as they do on the 4S.

And far as people working at apple, they know less than we do, Apple doesnt tell anyone anything, even reviews are secret, first real review I saw was yesterday from CNET
