if your car is an 08 with firewire then ull probably have issues on the newsr ones using a usb input you most likely will not have a problem, especially using bluetooth streaming. Worst case you might need to wait for an update.

The reason firewire wont is the switch to the 8 pin made it fully digital.

Hate that people gotta be so confident call someone wrong without themselves knowing 100%

How would it even have 19 pins, have u seen the size of it? and its reversable

"The Lightning dock connector, compared to its 30-pin predecessor, only has eight pins. That’s 22 less than before. Apple got rid of all those signals by stripping out obsolete technology that made sense for early-era iPods and iPhones, but has been surpassed by alternative methods since. Apple’s new Lightning dock connector is entirely digital; you won’t find any analog channels in the Lightning connector. Apple managed to shrink it and still make it work as well as before – a feat indicative of significant technological advancement but one that has been long overdue."

You do realize some reports said 19, other said 9...and now it's 8.

I wasn't calling anyone out, just saying what I had previously seen reported...just like Mattster thought it was 9 pin because of the report he posted. There are still contradictory stories still being released, but it does look like it is 8 at this point. Not 9 and not 19...so neither of us was correct going off the stories...

How about you calling me out because I said the USB will work...obviously it won't work with a non USB system, but it will with USB.

So you still want to hate?

2010 and newer do, 2008 and 2009 do not, its not a biggie u use a rca to headphone cable, use as a AUX.

Or you buy this TuneLink Auto hardware accessory for iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad

If I'm not mistaken I believe even Phil Schiller (or Johnny ive) said it was a 9 pin in the keynote last week. I could be wrong though and I'm too lazy to go back and watch it again.

But it does appear to be 8 on the connector.

As you said, it may work with the Gs that have a USB port, but I highly doubt it will work on older models that have a proprietary cable.

Speaking of which, anyone ever take that proprietary piece of crap out and replace it with a USB? Is it even possible to have it work?

I'd imagine the iPod/audio functions will operate just fine. I'll find out on Friday and ill update. I'm not concerned with the video-out however.

Thats what I wanna know, theres got to be a way to make that thing output any power you want, and connect to the new port too, forget the adapter, change the original cable, will see what the pins are after it comes out and I am sure someone will do this mod.
