Was the 'Music Box' option canceled for 2012 MY?

Was looking at a 2012 today out of curiosity and saw the car g37xS, had premium, nav and sport package, but did not list the MUSIC BOX as being present. That's where you can rip CDs to the hard disc that the nav runs off of.

I don't see it listed as being a change for 2012, anyone confirm this?

Very interesting! What build date did they stop including it? And does that impact all Nissan & Infiniti vehicles? (I would assume so)

yes it does impact all nissan and infiniti vehicles. not sure on the date they never gave us one, just said some will have it and some won't, didn't notice any until about a month ago, so I would assume 6/12 to 7/12 for the build date. Was weird cause everytime we got in a car to show someone we would have to scroll the aux button before saying anything about the music box lol. The analog clocks are also going bye bye

Guess I will be keeping my 2011 then, as I use the music box a considerable amount of the time.

Almost all customers are using their iThings (pods, pads, phones) now. With the licensing costs, I think it was determined not to be worth it any more.

If I got it I'd just get a 64gb flash drive. Ripping takes forever, and a lot of mine is digitally purchased so I never have the CD. I was a bit annoyed at not being able to use the MP3 format on it, so no big loss I guess.

No big loss there. Would be more useful if one was able to insert a flash drive, select tracks/folders/all to copy to it. Instead, it wants to rip actual cd's. Who uses those anymore

My $0.02
I can understand why Nissan/Infiniti would decide not to licence MB any longer.
I became frustrated with the music box concept after ripping my first CD. It just doesnt make much sense with today's options.

I have even switched from using my 80GB iPod to the 32GB SanDisk Cruzer Fit for music and video. It frees up space in the console and is so small that I don't risk pushing on and breaking it.

I think the main reason was the overall time it took to actually get a store bought CD ripped.

That, and who still buys CDs?

A flash drive is so much easier.

NOOOO! If this is true, it's so messed up. I like the look the analog clock gives to Infinitis. Very classy. Sad to see it go.

I'm getting anxious about what the new coupe will look like, what will follow after the letter G emblem... The new sedan is now out yet, so we can't even tell at least how big the engine will be, let alone the new lines...

Good riddance on the clock too. It may be classy, but really, it just wastes usable space. If I need the time, i look at the main display.
