Radar mounted on visor with windshield top tint

I am purchasing a radar detector within the next week or so.
Torn between the 8500x50 or 9500xi. I kind of want to save the extra money for other mods but I wanted to buy the best one I could. I live in Boston so the 9500xi gps learning seems legit for the city, but then again I don't speed in the city so I could just turn the 8500 off. Decision...Decisions.

Anyways, has anyone mounted either of these detectors on the visor and had any issues with the windshield top tint strip?

Get the 9500ix. The updateable red camera/speed camera database will come in handy, speeding or not.

9500 or V1

V1 is really good on the highway.
Once you have the arrows its hard to go back to anything else

Currently, Mass state laws prohibit speed cameras/red light cameras so none exist. However, I read an article the other day that stated Gov. D. Patrick is in the process of trying to advance a plan that allows these devices to increase revenue to the state. So who knows how long it will be if this ever gets passed.

Most of my driving is done within the city or in the towns surround the city like 60% of the time, but I do often drive out to the boonies of Mass where a quality highway detector would be worth it. I don't really speed within the city because well, it is almost impossible to. I also make trips down to Va Tech every now and then so it is possible that in the states I pass through, radar cameras are used.

I'm still completely torn, but I think I am leaning more towards the V1.
