Just picked up an Escort 9500ix for my G37

After 4 tickets in the G37 in 8 weeks, YES! This has NEVER happened ever, teice I had my radar ON and it never went off, it was a Whistler Pro 68SE ($99). I am sure they got me with a quick laser hit.

Anyway, I looked at the much praised Escort Passport 9500ix. They are $499 from Escort, best Buy, and about $440 on Amazon.

I found a used one on Craigs List for $350, got him down to $275 and bought it. He transfered hsi account to me so I could update the radar via the computer and I already tested it out and it works great!

Also ordered a BlendMount from Escort's website for $89.99 + $5 shipping. It comes with the wire to tap into the rear view mirror (I was going to make one, but they were selling that on most sites for $29.99).

Anyway, should be a nice Radar and look great with the blue lights. I wish I could get a Laser Jammer, thats what I really need since most Cops use those now.

Bandit.

Congrats. I've been hearing a lot of good things about this one as well and have been debating on trying it. Can you update with your opinion and how accurate it is?
Also, are these things legal in NYC? I've seen yes and no and can't figure it out...

radar detection is great IF the police are using constant on.

Some police only use instant on.
In this case your radar is useless if you are the only car on the road or the only car going fast. Similar to laser but most use Ka which is much wider than laser. Once they hit you with instant on your radar will ramp up, but its too late.

I use a V1 and drive a few MPH over the limit.

Some areas you have to use common sense. Like hilly areas or around curves.

Also if you are doing 80MPH+ you are pretty much asking for a ticket.

I love my 9500ix. It definitely helps, by as Blaze said, you have to be smart and not soley rely on the radar detector.

Just remember, any radar detector, is still just a tool, and not a ticket to freely speed. If you're in an area with blind corners, and cops are 'pop'ing people, it won't help you much. Don't be a lead vehicle when speeding out of state.

Aside from that, good luck. Mine has saved me a few times, but also got busted for not paying attention to above.

I have an ix, my only complaint so far has been that is slow to acquire GPS lock. I have an 8500, a V1 and a Passport IQ as well. All are tools. Use your head and eyes. Think like prey avoiding the predator.

Does yours rattle/ My mount doesn't, but my Radar DOES. I think it is loose inside the area that the tab goes into the rasdar, there si some PLAY from left to right.

I have a post on this and someone said Double sided tape on the part of the blend mount that slides into the radar, AND, you only peel away 1 side.

hmm I should invest in one of these. Is this one a "top-of-the-line" model? It seems radar detection purchases are ones you shouldn't be stingy about.

I have 2 Passport 8500s. One is a few years old and put out a text message that it needed to be serviced or something to that effect.
I switched it over to my wife's car and bought a newer model 8500 for the G. I figured if I was going to pay money to get it serviced I might as well just buy a new one.
The old one has been running fine now the last 3 months.
I may be wrong since it has a been awhile since I researched the passports, but I think the 8500 is just as good at detecting the radar signals as the 9500. The 9500 had a few more options that I didn't care about.
I use my G almost exclusively for long highway trips, where I drive fairly fast.
I now have over 25,000 miles on the G and have not got a speeding ticket as of yet. I just got back from a 2,900 mile trip, a few weeks ago and the passport 8500 as usual, saved me several times.
As stated in a previous reply, you have to be alert and drive smart. The radar detector is helpful, but not FOOL proof.

I went with the Redline model and love it! Can't tell you guys how many times that thing has saved me. I'd say it's paid for itself at least twice already.

I have same combo 9500ix + blend mount for a month now. Just do it your self it took 5 minutes. Only problem I had was the Nav screen was triggering the laser alert. Just had to move the mount a bit.
