CD Rec Questions

I'm really new to this forum, so if there's any mistake, please tell me.

I've just bought an 08 G37S red and fully loaded (4WAS, Bose, HDD...). There is one thing I've been wondering which is about the CD Rec function. Is there anyway to record just 1 song? I tried many times and it all started recording the whole CD, from the first song. I checked the Owners' Manual and it said the HDD can record selected song by pressing the Rec button while on the desired song. I'm so confused.

One more question, I found out that the CD reader on the G37S make the CDs really hot if compared to my FX35 at home. Is it normal or trouble? Please help me soon. Thank you in advance.

Hi there and congratulations on your purchase!

I went through the same problem you are going through. I am very picky and want all the features that are advertised to work as they should. Mine is also an '08 and same thing, read the manual but couldn't record only ONE song.

I took the car to the dealer and they actually replaced the radio unit after seeing that the manual said that...to no avail. Maybe the radio on newer models can do that, so you guys with newer G's please chime in on this...

Sorry to disappoint you, but if you want only ONE song recorded from a CD, you'll have to record the whole thing (and have the car on, since the recording process stops once you turn the ignition off...) and delete the ones you don't want. I know, very primitive procedure...lol

Well, that's pretty unusual for a HDD, just thought mine has problems. Would like to hear more from members here.

Also, I seemed to forgot to mention that I brought my car back to the dealer after they replaced the unit since I still wasn't able to record. The service manager showed me a "revised" manual I guess, that stated it couldn't be done.

Thank you very much. I didn't notice that line. Anyway, I have 1 more small question about the CD temp. Does it become really hot after 10-20 minutes of playing? mine is really hot, about 100 degree F (40o C), on my FX35 it's not that hot. Is it normal? I feel like it will harm the CD if playing too long.

I personally haven't had this problem, and I've driven for more than 40 minutes playing a CD; the disc does get a little warm, but nothing out of the norm. If you are still under warranty, I'd visit the dealer for that one.
