USB - Mp3

Hello,

Newbie here and I just got my new inifiniti g37 coupe and I'm really excited.

I just realised that it does not come with an aux port when i actually got it home and was looking for one. (I did read about the mods for xm tuner to get the aux but this is a leased vehicle so i dont want to try anything unless i decide to own it at some point)

I was disappointed because there was no bt streaming and i'm an android fan boy to make it worse and that completely eliminates the use of an iphone.

So i decided to stick a USB and play my mp3's but then i was having issues while browsing through the songs. Is there an option to browse the songs?? When i go from one song to the next one it starts playing immediately. And i also found that there was no option to fast forward the song.

Am i missing anything?

No, you just discovered how cheap and badly implemented the audio is in our cars.

Wow, really? there is no work around for this? This is really frustrating. I'd like to propose 2 possible routes to victory here, neither of which require Infiniti engineers admitting fault or patching software.

A) Some kind chap in corporate leaks the source code via bit torrent so the community can fix it for them.
B) We figure out a way to format a USB drive with a directory structure to look exactly like an iPod.
1) potentially a million problems here depending on how the car talks to the iPod.

(This would also fix the sister problem to this, where the car starts playing the same track from USB storage every time and doesn't remember where you left off. Super great for audio books guys)

the usb setup is what it is.
It works but not as good as some other cars.

I really wish this car (2011 model) came with bluetooth streaming audio.

I have been in several economy rental cars and they have usb support, bluetooth streaming, and way better ipod control.
A VERY base ford escort, 2010 Corolla, and a 2012 Kia Sorento all have a great usb set up and bluetooth streaming standard.

Do you if I ripped the Head Unit out and handed it to them they would give me $1850 back to go buy something that works?

Haha, mad trollin' bro.
You waiting to see the result of me attempting that?
Going in to the dealership tomorrow for some reason...

I believe they can actually skirt a lemon law claim on turd electronics by proving that it's defective by design and not a problem with your specific vehicle. I had thought about pursuing that route just to make a point about lazy engineering, but it appears I won't have the pleasure.

So my only real course of action is to play dumb (actually a systems engineer) and just keep repeating that I've never heard of a digital player that doesn't allow song scrolling or resume from poweroff.

Any advice that might have a 'deeper' impact?
