Static when switching to FM radio (at random times)

I couldn't find any posts, so let me know if this was already covered in something else.

I've noticed that my 08 non-nav/non-premium radio sometimes blares loud static when switching from a non-FM to an FM radio station. For example, switching from CD to an FM preset, or XM to an FM preset. And when I mean, I mean it. Once the static starts, flipping through the rest of the FM stations will still result in static, and the only way to fix this is to turn off the radio.

Anyone have any idea WTF is going on? I used to avoid this by subscribing to XM, but I really couldn't justify it...

Thanks,
Roger

I had this issue with my old G35. I don't know the exact solution, but i think it had to do with the weak antenna. I always heard static whenver i would simply turn on the rear defroster.
