honestly, no. There's one out there that claims the company will pay tickets for a year IF yu get them...but i wouldnt believe that and there's always a catch.
Radar detectors, IN MY OPINION, are only good for when officers leave radar on, sitting on the side of the road doing paperwork or something OR if an officer comes from behind you and drives with the radar on. If they have a radar/laser gun you're fuq'd. By the time they pull that trigger and you an react to slow sown after the detector goes off, they already have you.
There's a laser jammer out there that looks interesting. Looks like it works well, but I'm sure officers have something to combat it already.
Truth be told, my personal belief, a detector only saves you if you're zoning out to the music and not paying attention to how fast you're going IF you should happen to be where that officer dong paperwork is. They're a false sense of security IMHO and just another way companies can suck money out of the public.
Do I have one? Yep it's a $175 cobra.
Has it save me? Yep 10x over what it costs
Have I gotten nailed even though I had it? Yep, didn't even matter I had one.
Do I think spending $400+ on a detector is smart? No, but to each their own.
Will I buy a 9500ix? Yep...eventually just cause I want one.

If you do get a radar detector I suggest you hardwire it into something more discreet, because if you get pulled over cops tend not to go easy on you if the see that you have a radar detector.

I have the Escort 8500 x50 and it has served it's purpose on multiple occasions. I have considered getting the Escort RedLine next but that's pretty damn expensive.

My $.02 OP -
I invested in a 9500ci (sweet stealth install; radar, laser shifters, plus GPS for red light/speed trap notification). Three days after the install it saved my bacon from a motorcycle cop that popped me with his laser (the shifter gave me enough time to lower my speed before he hit me again - he gave me the stinkeye as I drove past him feeling quite smug and proud of myself.
Two weeks later, I got popped (read: ticket) by a camera van (the cities/cops love these in my area). Not because the system didn't go off; it did. But it is so sensitive that you get a false sense of security in town where it goes off frequently (even when you lock out falsies) and I find myself muting/locking out signals a lot.
Spent a lot of money trying to protect myself and in the end it worked, and then again, didn't. Not sure I'd do it again if I had to do it over. My last G got me around for three years with a lead foot, no detector, and nary a ticket.
Go figure.

I owned a V1 for many years (and several upgrades) but no longer recommend them and have switched to the Escort 9500ix.
I loved the V1 but it is not friendly with the blind spot detection systems on many newer cars. The system on my Acura MDX set it off constantly and I learned from Valentine that others cars can do the same thing to it.
The Escort is immune to that problem. I also like some of the features the Escort offers where the V1 has been rather stagnant.
V1 is still superb, but others have caught up and in some areas passed it.

9500x speed cam love it. You have to remember its a device.... NEVER PERFECT. Use your eyes, at night I don't speed period to easy atleast in Florida to sit in a ditch and pick you off, before you know it laser alert goes off and he already has your speed. But at the end of the day I can't drive without one. I owned a cobra never went off, returned it.(Garbage) Don't waste your money Passport 8500X50 or 9500x Speed cam. V1 are good i've been told but I don't like hearing beeping 24/7 as i was told they go off alot. Your choice I feel it was worth the $450 I spent.

I have the 9500ci and am very happy with it. Extremely stealth installation and many great features but it is quite pricy. If I remember correctly it cost it cost 1500. or 1600.. It works great.

Escort here!!
Me three for the 9500ci. With out the shifting feature against laser, You are toast. On long trips its backed up with an 8500 x50 ( picks up Ka from more than a 1/2 mile away in the flats) on the windshield.
