Connecting 2 phones to the 2010 Nav via Bluetooth
Hello everyone,
I know that you can register up to 5 bluetooth devices with the Nav system in the 2010 G37 but, I need a little help figuring out how the car will behave when more than 1 of those 5 devices are connected to the Nav system at one time.
I have two cell phones, one for personal use and, one for work. I'd like to have both in the car, registered and connected to the Nav system at the same time. I do not want to talk on both simultaneously but, I'd like to be able to make and receive calls using both phones. Can the Nav system do this? Does anyone know what happens if you are making a call on one phone, and a call comes in on the other? Will the Nav system tell you that you have an incoming call on the other phone?
Thank

Although up to 5 phones can be paired, I believe only one of those can be active at any given time.
In so far as inbound calls go, it would be nice to have that ability. For outbound however it may get confusing.
Now, there may be some sort of BT multiplexer available that acts as a go between. Your phones are paired with it, and it is paired with the car. Hmm...
What I'd really like to see is the onboard nav make use of the smartphone's internet to update traffic and/or tie into googlemaps.

Utilizing the phones data connection for updates would be useful but, it would get expensive rather fast. I'd rather that the NAV unit have wireless capabilities so that I can do updates in the driveway.

^^I think there's some confusion about which updates i'm referring to. I don't mean to update the gps mapset data. That would be far too lengthy to do via mobile broadband. I'm referring to traffic updates similar to what you get on a smartphone's googlemaps app.
A model something along the lines of a major annual update (via dvd) and smaller monthly updates might be useful.

I can't exactly comment on your specific question of being able to receive calls from two different phones through the bluetooth interface - but - I did pair my wife's phone to my car as a second bluetooth audio device. It technically worked fine, but was kind of annoying when we would use her phone for the bluetooth audio and then receive a call on my phone (the only one hooked up for bluetooth calling).
I unfortunately cannot exactly recall what the issue was, but if I remember correctly there was a significant delay from the time the Nav-bluetooth unit would pick up the ring from my phone when we were using her phone for audio at the same time. I know this is not exactly what you were looking for, but I kept the setup for about 2 hours before switching back to having only one device paired for audio and calling. Also, I had to actually completely remove both devices and add back just mine to make the bluetooth audio/calling work exactly as it was before I paired the second phone (for some reason there was still a delay when the bluetooth was switching between phone and audio connections; even though the same device was paried for both features).
It's worth a try setting up the bluetooth calling for both of your phones, but my guess is that it won't work the way you'd like it.
