I consistently get $5 a month for XM select which is normally 14.49 a month... I get 5 months or so per renewal. Each time I have to threaten to cancel. Have to call just before they auto renew at the "then current renewal rate" which they can lock you into for 6 months supposedly, following the expiration of the special $5/mo deal. So it's important to call to "cancel" before they do that. I think they figure that you will miss the deadline and get stuck in a 6 month contract at full price, so they're willing to give you the deal. Takes some work (10 minute phone call?) but it's worth it. I don't listen to XM enough to pay $14 or $8 a month, but $5 is OK for the couple times a month that I tune in.

I have paid $4-5/mo for the last 3? yrs. The only catch is you have to call back every 6 months. I was paying $3.99 inc internet but but best I have been able to do latey is $5/mo. Just call and ask to cancel and the negociating will start.

how would you recommend "threatening to cancel" when you're still under the trial period? Just wait for it to go out and them to send you a coupon, or say well I'd like to renew but it's not worth the price you're offering, I see people getting it for X dollars online.

i call them up, tell them that for the amount of stations i listen to its not worth that huge expense to keep it. Their response is always "ok sir, hold on a second" and then they come back and tell me theres a 5 or 6 month promotion for $25 if im interested.

why pay for traffic and weather when/if you have a smartphone with apps like Waze?
I can understand if youre driving to other states and whatnot, but if you do roughly the same commutes everyday, do you REALLY need traffic?
As for weather, it takes 30secs to look at the news forecast.
Bam. Saved you $100/yr
If you financed/leased a car for 5yrs, thats a front chin spoiler for you. Money better invested
