Nav traffic question?

Nav traffic question?
I have the Nav in my 2010 sedan, but don't have the XM subscription for the music,weather and traffic.
Neither the traffic or the weather, on the XM, works in my part of Florida.
My question is does our Nav system have the ability to alert you and then redirect your route because of congestion,accidents,etc.?
My sister drove down to my area in Florida with her 2007 BMW. In Florida her NAV alerted her to congestion ahead and rerouted her around it on 2 separate occasions.
I've had the G for 2 years and have taken some long trips with it. The Nav has never warned me about traffic.

the traffic WONT work without an XM subscription...specifically a Nav Traffic subscription
but yes, it works as is advertised....and I assume it would work on par with the BMW since the source is more or less the same
