Nav updates

Nav updates
Is there any way to tell if my Nav was updated via navteq? I purchased an '08 G37s 6mt a couple of weeks ago from an Infiniti dealer. One of the prerequisites I gave them was I wanted the Nav updated- the salesman said it was done, but is there any way to actually check the system to see the latest update? Everything seems ok, but who knows if they actually did it or not? Thanks for any input!

Somewhere in the navigation settings, there is an option to look at map version. If it says 2010-2011, then you have the latest one. There is a new version coming out in february tho.

What does the dealer actually do for the installation on their end? It seems crazy that it essentially doubles the cost if you want to update maps. I updated the maps in my wife's MDX a few years ago by buying a DVD off of eBay, super easy. Being HD based, how do the maps get loaded into the Infiniti system? Does it read off of a disc, use the CF slot, or does the dealer actually replace the HD?
This is for an '09 G37x Coupe.

Even if you purchase the adapter that the dealership uses, you have no access to their ASIST software to download the maps. I've attempted to upgrade the map myself, but it's pretty impossible. It was easier for me to update the entire navigation system to the 2010 version, which uses DVDs to update future maps.

My 2012 sedan came with the following
Map ver 11-12 map no.1
Program version X3U32001
I'm guessing the map version is for years 2011-2012. No idea how current or outdated the actual program is however.
My guess is this map data is still 2-4 years old anyways. If all goes well, in 5 years I may pay for a new update.
