Place to tap off switched 12V?

I want to install my radar detector on my '09 G37x. Where is the easiest place to tap off switched 12? And how the hell do I get to it? It appears that getting to anything underneath or behind the dash is one big puzzle, and I dont know where to begin! I figure Id ask before I broke something

You can easily tap it on your cig adapter. Are you auto or manual?

Easy!

On the shifter, you'll see the leather boot. Pull it down and it'll reveal the pin that's clipped onto the shift ****, pull it out then the shifter is freed. After that, put the gear in neutral then use your finger and dig into the leather where the console is, you need to get ahold of the corner then just pull it up. Don't worry, nothing will break just be careful

Hardwire it to your mirror. Pretty easy if you know how to splice wires together! look for the DIY on here somewhere

I have my radar detector mounted up under my mirror with a blend mount. It's a really nice mount, but a little on the pricy side. Worth it tho IMO. I taped into switched power and ground in the mirror's harness. Took all of about 15 min to install and that is because I took the time to solder the wires up and do it right. There are only three wires so that makes it really easy to figure out whats going on. There is a 12v constant, 12v switched, and a ground. Just grab a test light and see what gets power all the time, only when the cars on, and whats ground and your all set. From there just tap into the switched 12v and ground, stick the radar detector up there and done. No wires hanging around, nothing on your windshield, and a clean look. Here is a link to the blend mount sight if you wanna go that rout.

Otherwise the cig lighter is always a great place to get switched 12v like everyone else said.

I have the blend mount too for my v1. Problem is, I have the remote kit for the v1 too so I need the power below the windshield, like from the dash. not from above.

Yup, cig in the centre console or also there is 12V switched in the harness running along the driver side going back to the trunk.

I used a stealth cord that taps into the back of the mirror.
The 8" cord will work fine, but I ordered the 12" cord. This gave me enough extra length to wrap the cord once around the mirror stalk. The reason I did that was when and if the suction cups give out the weight of the radar detector wont pull the prongs out and possibly fall onto my console and nick it.

Blend mount & Invisicord. 30 minute install. Make sure you order the mini option as the 2012 pins are super small.

WOW $89.99 for a Blend Mount!!! that's half the price of my X50 there has to be a more cost effective option to mount the same way.
