using a module from navtool.com to connect a indash navigation/backup camera is gonna be a lot less then the DirectUsNav solution.
I guess the question is DirectUsNav has an OEM solution ... so if you go with either solution or a module with multipule inputs does it give the same result? does it cost the same?

Yes it would be a cheaper route to go with a module from navtool but IMO there are a few drawbacks...
You're limited to very few GPS modules that output RCA. The only one that I know of is the GVN53/52.
You need to install a physical switch so as to be able to switch between the GPS and the OEM screen vs. having the switch via software.
The navtool module only has an input for NAV and GPS which leaves no room for expandability.
There is no touchscreen using the navtool nor any expandability for that (no USB port). Even with the GVN53, you would still need to use the IR keyboard provided.
With the cost of the navtool & the Garmin & backup cam, it really seems like the Directus is the best bang for your buck unless you go with a carPC. Even with a carPC, you still have to worry about proper powering, touchscreens, software, etc.
Do we have any idea where external GPS antenna located?
That's a good question and I was wondering the same thing myself. The video's don't show where they mount the antenna. I'm assuming it's probably somewhere on the dash that has direct line of sight with the satellites.
