DirectUsNav - Prodigy Unit
#2
Does it work for 2008 G37? I am looking to purchase one but looking to see if it's worth it to pay 2-3 k extra for Nav that everyone is asking.
Also, what is the price for the DircetUsNav unit + installation (estimate)
Thanks.

price and install
There is actually a user on this forum Directus who may be better able to answer questions.
I am in canada and I haven't been able to find vendors who sell this unit here..
The cost is high but there are so many factors to consider about these units.

I'm hoping for a group buy.
I just got done talking to them and it basically sounds like this is a piggy back system on top of OEM. There are 2 wires that need to be tapped but the system can be removed and moved to another vehicle in the future. It's expandable and includes a touch screen overlay. You switch between menu's by a tab on the interface and it retains all the OEM functions.

Well one of the places who's a distributor/installer for these units has said that anyone looking for an aftermarket integrated nav/backup cam function would probably consider this one of the cleanest and most simple units to integrate.
The guys I talked to have years of experience in competition audio and custom fab work. He compared this unit to a CarPC, since that's basically what this is, and stated that he felt this utilized more of the OEM harness, and considering the fact that you only have to tie into 2 wires, it was much cleaner to put in and/or remove.
It's obviously higher priced than building a CarPC yourself, but you pay for the ease of install (3-4 hours), something that can easily be removed and put into another car, and something that is fully expandable.
I'd like to think that the installer I talked to is credible enough since he's done both this Prodigy unit and a custom CarPC on a few 37's already.
