Let's hear it Fez.

Also I ended up buying a 9500ci from an authorized dealer last night. Open box/returned item fully tested. Escort says I will have a full warranty on it. I know the STi-R is better. I'm not arguing that at all, but I couldn't pass the deal up, and it's still a better design than the 9500ix which I've been more than pleased with over the past year.

Edit: Wow! 4 vs 1 in favor of the 9500ci? What gives, guys? I'd have expected it to be even.

Gee, I've never heard that one before. V1's are well-known for crying wolf with incessant false alerts. They also have one of the leakiest oscillators on the market today, since it hasn't really changed since Fred Flintstone first ran it back sometime around the stone age. Don't get me wrong, it's good at its primary job of detecting, but that's about the extent of it. It doesn't have Spectre RDD invisibility, it does next to nothing to limit false detections, and it doesn't even fit into the category of "remote installed". No thanks.

Voltic, as a VA resident I must say be careful. I doubt you will get out of a single citation using that excuse. Virginia law regarding detectors is EXTREMELY stringent -- the only way you can have one in your car is if it is disconnected and stored somewhere that is inaccessible in the cabin (LOCKED glovebox, trunk without foldable seats). They will cite you for it, I promise you...

+1

It's saved me a ton of times through the years.

Now it can be linked with RadarActive for IPhone users to create a V1 community with real-time speed trap info. Essentially, a GPS feature is added, and the IPhone serves as the V1 remote display.

It's not VA safe and it would drive me crazy with falses. V1 is not on my list and never will be.

Wouldn't be my rodeo with Virginia police. I lived there a few years ago. This is why I'm getting a concealed detector with display mounted inside the ash tray door. (i.e. not a Valentine One)

^ See, now this is a constructive suggestion because it's VA "safe". Still though, I'd prefer a remote mount. I ended up with a 9500ci, which is basically the same detector with remote mount and GPS.

I ended up picking up the 9500ci since I got a great deal compared to the Bel, and I don't need much more sensitivity than my 9500ix already has since I don't really go anywhere where they know how to use Q/T.
I'm talking about REALISTICALLY. Not based off of some statistic posted by the manufacturer. It was a video showing the 9500ix picking up radar signals LONG before the 9500ci. The first thing that could affect that, is the placement of the sensors of the ci. Being that they will always be mounted lower than the sensor of an ix, they have less visibility.

This is true, and I'm not going to say that placement doesn't have an effect on detection because it does, but given the nature of radio waves, mounting 1ft higher is not going to be a massive change in detection capability. Not to mention where I have my 9500ix mounted isn't ideal to begin with being partially behind the tint strip. Then you have to consider that glass itself is a dielectric, so the 9500ix is already at a disadvantage to the 9500ci with a clear view. Honestly you could argue it all day but there are just too many variables. I've seen plenty of videos of the 9500ci detecting first, and the 9500ix detecting first. They're generally pretty close on capability though, so I wonder if that guy's 9500ci you were talking about may have had an receiver issue.
