Blown HID Bulb 3 Times
Hey maybe someone can help me out. A week ago I received my V-LED D2S HID 6000k replacement bulbs. I installed them and when i turned on my lights only the driver side lit up. I removed the pasenger side bulb and saw it had blown.
Today i recieved the 2 replacement bulbs V-LED sent me and the same thing happened with both bulbs. I put the stock bulb back in and it worked fine.
Any idea what the problem is???

GE, Philips, Sylvania, PIAA are a few that come to mind. I just had to change mine out and put my OEMs back in until my new ones arrive. Considering what a PITA it is to change the bulbs, I wouldn't do it any more than necessary.

Yeah its a serious PITA and very frustrating to change out the bulbs especially 3 straight times lmao.
I guess ill leave the bulbs the way they are for now (6000k VLED driver side, OEM passenger side lol). Ill research a quality bulb to use and change them out.

I'm not sure if this applies to HID bulbs but I know that with older halogen bulbs, you had to make sure not to touch the envelop of the bulb so as not to get any oil from your fingers on the glass. The glass gets very hot and impurities on the bulb (i.e. oil from your fingers) and this can alter the cooling of the bulb which can cause hot spots. I had several bulbs where the glass actually bubbled (even though I made sure not to touch the bulbs) so I'm not sure if it was a cheap bulb or what.
Also, it's a good idea to clean the bulbs with rubbing alcohol before installation with a soft cloth. This will ensure that the bulb envelop is clean and free from impurities. Hope this helps.

Yeah, What brand did you upgrade to? My 10 dollar ebay bulbs are still holding up(Its been almost a year now) but in the event that they go out, i want to try some Higher quality bulbs to see if they're worth the extra pennies. I also want to go from 6000k to 5000k when these go out.

I disagree , it's a known problem w 2011s for some reason they have similar issues reported from many friends have tried to run after market bulbs on the 2011. I'm running Vleds 5000Ks and ran there 3000Ks w never any issues. My buddy has the flicker issue on his 2011 w 5000K bulbs and another two guys have same problem. I could be wrong but just throwing this info put there.
