Must music be ripped off the CD to get into MUSIC BOX?

I'm wondering if it is a requirement that any music that is placed into the MUSIC BOX be ripped off the CD? I have lots of things I'd like to place on there, but having to take downloaded (legally) music and burn to CD just to go sit and wait for it to rip is a little much.

Thoughts?

I read something once about someone removing the hard drive and hooking it directly to their computer to load up music. I don't know how they did it and I can't find the thread again, but its certainly an interesting thought.

it only takes 7 minutes to rip a CD into the Music Box.

I did most of my collection in no time.

every time you drive it, rip one or two.

or three.

it's very easy.
