Upgrading Navi Features
I noticed that on the 2011 G37 you can see weather and the navi has a "3D" view. Just wanted to know if it were possible to do this on the 2008+ navi with an upgrade of some sort?

It's cool, but it's not THAT great... The weather thing from XM is a joke. It only works in specific metro areas. Here in Colorado, there are 3 cities listed. If you live in the middle of the state, you get nothing that is accurate for your actual location. The cost of the XM weather service is lame, even at the discounted rate of $3/mo or so. I get weather alerts all the time, and they are so non-specific sometimes and come in as an "other alert". So, what exactly is an "other alert"?
The 3D buildings thing is just a gimmick. It has no real world value, and only works in specific places. Who cares about buildings on the NAV screen? If you look out the windshield, the ACTUAL BUILDING is right there in front of you.

I'd guess it's any downtown area of a "real" metro area of a major city. We've got it here in Denver (downtown only), and we're 26th largest, so I'd be willing to guess maybe the top 50 largest cities? Just a guess.

Keep in mind that in older G37’s you can get almost the same affect by selecting Bird View Map. Some taller buildings or landmarks, either already part of the map or those structures entered manually, appear in 3D. Also, when using route guidance, freeway exits are shown as 3D in either bird or plan views.

Anyway, it seems like no one has really answered the OP's question. It's certainly possible to swap out your unit with a newer one, but I can promise you it won't be worth the cost.
