I've tried the AudioPilot system on and off and don't hear any difference! Not even speed sensitive volume. What's it supposed to do?

I hear the sound out of the speakers on the head rests...not sure what is supposed to do. I actually hate the auto adjustment sound most of the time because it's at strange times.

I like the idea of having the speakers next to your head... seems like a pretty solid idea in a convertible... although, the Logic7 audio system on my dad's 650i convertible sounds better (possibly one of the best stock audio systems I have ever heard in a car... even great with the top down)

in my experience, when you go faster it somewhat increases the volume, which prompts the need to turn it down a little bit. when i first read about it, before i bought the car, i thought it would compensate for the environmental noise (like the noise canceling headphones do), but that is definitely not the case.
now dont even get me started about the "adaptive" and "learning" gearbox. why my gearbox thinks i should be 80 and drive the largest 90's crown victoria out there, i've no clue.

I think it changes the acoustic response when the top is up vs when its down.
I am NOT a fan of Bose but I have to say it sounds pretty good. Not amazing, but pretty good. Good enough not to want to swap out all the components for higher end stuff.

+1. DS mode is very nice. I really can't stand the shift lag when in D mode. Unfortunately DS mode tends to lock out 7th gear, so I usually shift between D and DS depending on if I want to cruise or accelerate.
DS is a whole 'nother vehicle
