Need help with 2011 Nav.

Ok, I have been getting conflicting info and I am hoping the 2011 owners or anyone else with some cold hard facts can assist here because I am tired of these dealerships not knowing anything!

One dealership is telling me that my new 2011 G37s has the newest version Nav maps which by the way I find that hard to believe because the map version is 09-10 and another dealership THINKS there is a newer version but they want me to bring in the car so they can take a look. I don't want to waste anytime going back and forth with these dealerships so does anyone know for a fact which is it? See pic below for my Navi version.

Yes you have 09-10 map. There is Infiniti Navigation System 10-11 map update. It was out couple of months ago. You can go to the link below to check it out.

NAVTEQ - Maps for your Infiniti Navigation System

2011 cars should come with up to date 10-11 map but i've seen a lot of 2011 owners with 09-10 map like you. You can always ask your dealership for the update but i doubt they will update your map for free.

I have an 08 and recently updated my maps to 10-11 navteq maps. The 09-10 is last years maps. Actually every 2011 G I have seen including the IPL have the 09-10 maps. Looks like you will have to spend the 150 bucks or whatever it is for this years maps. After spending 40k+ ya it seems like a ripoff, but I suppose a lot of the 2011 G's were built and shipped before the 10-11 maps were available sometime in December.

If you click that link & follow what it says (click the 2 drop down boxes on the left & select vehice & year), it says we should have the most up to date current navigation software.

Now with that being said, I wonder if the dealership will do it free of cost when the infiniti website even says we should have it.....you think that would strengthen the case for us 2011 owners?

If it's worth saving the money. Try a bunch of dealerships until you find one that will do it for free for you. Someone will hook you up and charge it to warranty.
I just go in and tell them I need a price on whatever it is and then ask if it is a warranty item. Some will do it some won't.

just because your car is a 2011 model doesnt mean it should have a 10-11 map

the maps are based on what was available at the time of build.

The 10-11 map is only for 08 and 09 models.

How is that? Why would it be exclusive to the 08 and 09?? Now I'm really confused. This sucks!

I think they changed over to a different nav setup in 2010, hard drive based vs DVD based.

It's still hard drive based the difference is that 2007 - 2009 models require a dealer visit to update the maps as it's done via the PCMCIA slot. 2010+ models are updated by putting a DVD into the DVD slot so it can be done by the owner.
