Obstructed View Ticket
Anyone ever gotten an obstructed view ticket from having a Radar Detector mounted below the mirror (blendmout), or above the mirror (suction cupped). What about windshield mounted gps units?

Haha, yea I didn't get a ticket, I was just wondering if anyone has before. In California, technically, you can get a ticket for having an air freshener hanging from your mirror.
Using a blendmount for a radar detector leaves it in a highly visible area so I was curious if anyone has been ticketed for one before.

I got an obstructed view ticket once years ago. I was pissed. It was for a Van Halen concert. There was a pillar in front of our seats and you could only see Mike and Eddie unless you leaned way over to the side. It wasn't that bad though because Sammy Hagar's heart wasn't in the performance at all that night, he mailed it in. I'm glad I didn't pay full price.

Gotta love the useful posts from the mods on this forum...
I've never heard of anything like that before. I've never had a cop mention anything like that and they have even commented on having the radar detectors. If that's true then I the same thing could be applied to aftermarket GPS's and other devices too.

If I am not mistaken, in California, according to law, you can't mount anything to your windshield (Radar Detector or GPS). I got a bean bag mount for my GPS a couple of years ago because I was working out there for about 6 months. I could be wrong though.

In Cali it's legal only if it's mounted in either bottom corner of the windshield. I think technically those beanbag mounts are also illegal.

This is what I was thinking too, but it seems like if the cop is a **** he will see the radar detector and give you a ticket for the obstructed view if he can't find anything else to ticket you for.
