I'm guessing the nav model also has the component video input in the center console? If so then yeah, this is possible. Keep in mind that this isn't using the factory Ipod connector...This is using an Apple video connector, connected to the composite video input in my center console.
So the factory ipod connector will not work?

Ok. I have my jailbroke iPhone 4s, cars modded with vid bypass and display out. All is working but looks like crap. What settings are you using in display out? I can barely read the map on Navigon.

Edit: Iphone 4s....doesn't the Iphone 4s have display mirroring built in? does it work over composite without having to jailbreak or is that only for the HDMI connector?

been waiting for my warranty to expire to get the video bypass installed... then i was going to go this route for GPS (non nav G)
side note: in the 08 model (my model) the iphone fits perfectly in where the ashtray is. would be a great spot to mount in your idevice. i found this out when waiting in drive thru at micky ds and was watching sunday ticket on my phone and wanted to put it down while still being able to view it.

Finally got around to creating and uploading a video showing the capabilities and versatility of an Iphone 4 connected to my car's video system. If you want to do this you need to jailbreak your Iphone 4 and download displayout from Cydia. Also you need the Apple OEM composite video cable available at the Apple store. For my mount I used a proclip G37 mount and an Arkon universal smartphone mount. To charge the phone while its connected you need a AC/DC converter connected to the Apple Video cable. Apps I demonstrated: GPS using ALK Technologies Copilot Live, Live TV using Slingbox Player, Stocks using Istockmanager, G force meter using Dynolicious.

If you have to jailbreak ether way just buy:
Aftermarket composite cable. (download resupported)
$11.00 Ebay (you can prob get this cheaper)
USB Car power adapter (this one is smaller)
$2.51 Ebay
Even if you don't do the bypass sound still plays while your driving so if your using a turn by turn navigation app it will still tell you when to turn.
If your really cheap you can download the cracked version of displayout from a repo.
I have the nav package so i haven't tired this in a while mainly because I have a 6mt and I hate using my phone while driving but it works with iPhone 3G, iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.
