Opening a Wiring Harness?
Hey guys, very odd and very specific question for you all:
On factory wiring harnesses, like perhaps the one on the back of the LCD, how would you pop one of those open to remove a pin or four?

Haha, Voltic. Most people are not going to understand what you're trying to do. I think what I did and what you're attempting is beyond what most people are comfortable doing. I was going to reply to your PM but I'll just answer here. I also tried to take the wiring harness connector apart but couldnt. If you really want to preserve the harness, you can get a harness adaptor/splitter from ebay. I bought this and only used the harness:
Infiniti G35 G37 NAV Video Converter DVD,Back Up Camera - eBay (item 380297945600 end time Feb-08-11 1043 PST)

I didnt know if he was talking about taking the pins out of teh connector of the main harness to the nav or the the lcd screen. I've been able to tke the pins out on my maxmia but I have nto tried on the G.
I'm intrested in doing this because I'm going to be doing somethign similar to what you did with the touchscreen and the guages on teh screen, with a carputer. Not too worried about music.

I was going to wait for your PM back but I already had everything torn apart and you'd just logged off so I figured I'd just throw it out there for everyone.
In case anyone's interested, yes I'm doing a system similar to Modme's. I've done one in every car I've had since 2003 or so and was glad to see it's doable for the G, even if it is a pain in the ***. Those FFCs suck, by the way.

from the front of connector - push back the pin while pressing the little bumo/clip on the side of that pin thru the connector plastic. The bump/clip hold the contact from pushing back while puling lightly on the wire of the pin.
