HID Reflection Setting Off Laser Detector

Has anyone experienced the reflection of their HID headlights setting off their laser detector?

I have an Escort 9500ix and when I start the car in the garage, the headlights reflecting off of the wall set off the laser detector. This is a minor annoyance. The real annoying event is when I blast up behind a vehicle on the highway at night and the reflectin off of the back of the car (especially bad with pickup trucks) sets off the laser detector. It often scares the crap out of me. I don't even have to be very close (3 or 4 car lengths).

Yup, it happens to me all the time. It doesnt really need to reflect off anything. As soon as I turn on the headlights, the radar detector goes off. I have the same model. 9500ix

Thanks for the response guys, now I know it is not just my 9500 ix. The only thing I can say is that at least the laser detection is really sensitive.

uhm...no one mentioned fog lights. My laser goes off when my regular headlights turn on, with fog lights off.

Now that's funny! Not only do you have mechanical laser warning, but you also get stereo unison kid warning. Now that's a seriously cool feature!

Bummer though about the 9500ix

Yes, they are right next to your headlight. The switch to turn them on is on the same lever used to turn on the headlights.

Really? The only thing that ever gives me a false laser is if I have the unit unmounted and accidentally aim it at the screen. Well, and one time around Barstow but I suspect ninjas.

Okay seriously though, those of you having this problem, where do you have your 9500ix mounted? Mine is mounted high middle, just under the rear view mirror so I can see the screen for verifying the frequency.

Mine is mounted to the rearview mirror with the Blend mount. I also use their cord that taps in to the mirror electrical connector.
