Bose system not that loud

This might sounds like a silly complaint but I feel like my Bose Stereo does not get that loud. I had a Grand Cherokee before my G and the stereo volume was from 0-50, when I got around 38 it was extremely loud, I mean it made your ears hurt it was so loud. In my G I can turn it up all the way and it is not even that loud. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Is there a restrictor that hold the volume back so you do not blow the speakers? Is there a way to remove it. <o></o>

Seems quiet to me too. With windows down I can have the volume wide open and not be overwhelmed. Using the iPhone and Pandora helps because you can "pre-amp" the signal using their volume control but I don't know of any other way to push the factory amp.

I think the Bose system is plenty loud, should never turn any stereo up past 3/4 ..... do a google search on clipping. I notice some MP3's on my iPod are lower than others but that has nothing to do with the Bose system. Don't get me wrong .... I'm not a Bose advocate in general but the Bose in my coupe gets plenty loud enough....

FYI... I just installed a set of Black Betty's Ground Wires and it definitely
improved the sound of the Bose... Tighter thump on the bass and a bit more volume!!

And 08GMan > Check out a SW package called MP3 Gain... You can level set
ALL your MP3's, even the ones recorded at lower bit rates so all sound the same level.

I've heard of MP3 Gain, haven't look at it, I will. Thanks for the tip.

I've got nothing but high praise for the Bose stereo, compared to the one that was in my honda, it's like night & day

Try turning off the speed-dependent gain control. It helps a little bit.

No offense meant, but in the scope of this discussion, i don't think DJ-ing and SQ should be in the same sentence together. Granted, you need good quality music to perform, but sonic attributes isn't usually top of the list for most DJ's. Your company may be different, however, so props to you for focusing on pure quality as opposed to the typical "as loud as possible" performances.

That said, the ELS system is good for what it is, but i wouldn't call it quality sound either. For DVD-A's, they're good, but for everything else it sounds artificial.

Then again, i'm old school and would much prefer a good stereo sound than one coming from every possible direction. This is the main difference between Acura's ELS and Infiniti's SOW.

I'm not saying I drive around with the volume wide open all the time either. But I can and it's not painful. They stopped a few dB short of ideal and just a little more would be perfect.

I agree. The only real dissappointment I have with the coupe is the Bose System. It's really not that loud.

after I graduated highschool I realized how big of a tool I look like blasting my music going 10 miles an hour. but on nice summer days driving on highway with the windows down, volume all the way up isn't loud enough, and it doesn't help the fact I never max the speakers(no matter what speakers im using)

The Bose system is definitely inferior to the ML system in my wife's IS350. It gets very muddy at high volume and the bass response is no where near as controlled or pronounced. The ML system is quite simply the best I've ever heard an oem system sound.

I have a digital db meter, I use it for adjusting my surround sound .... I'll take a db reading of the stereo. Have to wait until the G is home ..... I'll take the reading using a XM Station and a close (good signal strength) FM station.
