Unhappy iPhone now completely useless with 2010

My iPhone 3GS (USB connection) initially worked fine with my 2010, but as of today, after I upgraded the iPhone to iOS 4.01, I get nothing past the "Reading USB memory" screen on the car, accompanied by "This device is not optimized..." splash on the iPhone. These two messages just cycle back and forth about every 15 seconds, stuck in a bug loop, and no music ever plays. (Note that Bluetooth streaming still works)

Let's hope the new TSB for the 2010's fixes this problem! Anyone else have this problem? Anyone get it fixed yet under the TSB?

Have you tried turning your phone off and turning it back on?

Ah, much thanks! I did a hard reboot (holding down both buttons) and it now seems to work ok, though I still get the "device not optimized" screen once. Hopefully, I won't have to do this very often and/or maybe the TSB fixes some errors as well.

The 2010 likes the iPhone 4... that's like getting a new girlfriend and trying to give her your old girlfriends dry cleaned lingerie. iOS4 just isn't the same j/k hope your problems solved.

I just installed ios 4.1 on my iphone 4. It Now supports changing tracks over bluetooth. Works on my bluetooth headset. Also just checked on my 2010 G37S and it works on the steering wheel control as well. Works with both the ipod app and in Pandora. Loving this new feature.

Just get rid of your iPhone...

Seriously though, just get an iPod classic and keep it in the car, that's what I do.

The iphone rules!

But I too have a 120gb classic that I use in my car, I have a 2009 so no bluetooth streaming, I agree with Spaded21 and it is the way to go, I'm too lazy to plug in my iphone everytime I get in and out of the car. Plus the classic charges on it's own, with the iphone you need to get one of those intermediary Scotsche devices, pain in the butt.

Um... why get an iPod Classic when you HAVE an iPhone? Waste of money IMO.

For the convenience. Like cjkeno said, you dont have to plug it in everytime you get in the car, it charges on its own, and it just works without any issues.

anyone know if 4.1 on a iphone 3GS would work? im running 4.0 right now and it seems fine. i cringe every time a new update comes out..
i would throw my old ipod video in my car and call it a day, but... i would never remember to take it out of my car to update it with new songs nor put it back in my car lol. running songs off a phone just makes it one less thing to worry about bringing along..
