Went ahead and bought the Scosche adaptor. 18.50 + free 2 day shipping with amazon prime. I also bought a 3 foot black Dock extender cable.
Now my phone charges and the cable is long enough for me to move the phone around. I have yet to have issues with the adaptor coming loose easily, but it doesn't "lock" in place so I could imagine if you play with your phone a lot and tug on the cord it could become an issue.
I think my total was 29 dollars for everything.

Damn 40 dollars for a converter? It sucks that apple changed the Voltage but they should have made a legit converter at the apple store, it would work and I'm sure it would probably be around 30$
Does anyone know anything about the "Isimple" converter?
Amazon.com: ISIMPLE IS712 iPod 12 Volt to 5 Volt Charging Converter: Electronics
Its way cheaper and I get free shipping through amazon prime.

I recently bought the scosche power adapter but I'm not getting the charge to carry through. Does anyone know if the iPod cord on a 2009 series carries charge? I'm trying to troubleshoot and I'm thinking I need a new OEM iPod cord. In the test I did in my house the scosche carries charge through the adapter, but I get nothing in my car. Anyone have similar issues?

Charges fine on my 2009 and my 2008. BUT. I get a lot of alternator whine. Really bad. Pretty disappointed, but it does charge when I need it to.
Does Anbodys else's scosche whine ?

I bought the car used and the cord was in it. Did the brand new car come with the cord or just the female port in the center console?

Update: took the car to Infiniti dealer and they replaced the faulty OEM cord under warranty. New cord works well, no scosche adapter needed. Although no steering wheel functionality. Oh well, at least I got spotify playing through my Bose system.
