I know most of you have a radar detector and exhaust or sound systems so how do you hear it? i cant even hear it over the stock sound system at lower levels. Has anyone got a radar "screamer" or found another way to make them louder?
for me it's not necessarily being able to hear it explicitly, but the radar is right in my peripheral vision so if it goes off I usually notice that it's flashing

I love my Valentine One. It has a volume control and tells you where the radar/laser is coming from.
Where it is located can make a big difference. I hard-wired mine and the wire comes out at the top of the roof. I have it located on the top and left side of my windshield near the sun visor now. I can hear and see it much better than when it was located in the middle of the windshield. I also have a Passport which has programmable sounds. I have mine set to the loudest and most annoying sound so I will hear it in case I have the radio turned up loud.
Which radar detector do you have? I have an Escort 9500i with volume adjustment (set about halfway) and have no problems hearing it, even with windows down on the freeway.
i have escort 8500 and i dont think i can change the tone of the sound? its turned up all the way, i dont have the best hearing so that might affect it, i was considering looking at the 9500 is it louder compared to the 8500? i wouldnt think there would be much difference. if i go past about halfway with the bose system i cant hear the radar at lower signal level and when it gets to the higher strength i can hear but its too late by then, if i really need it i just turn the music down. but i figured most people would have loud exhaust and subwoofers to hear over, wondering how they do it
