Oh man, don't even get me started on that. It's impossible to get a deal on XM NavTraffic. You can easily get XM Radio for $5 a month but as soon as you ask to add Traffic to the subscription (it's another $5 a month and you need XM Radio to get XM Traffic) they charge you full price for the Radio subscription. You can't combine any XM Radio deals and Traffic. If you want Traffic you have to pay full price for the radio. Believe me, I've been trying for two years.

Sorry to bump such an old thread.

^^Is that still the case? I'm still in my 3 month trial and received the xmradio welcome letter today.

I really couldn't care less for the audio portion of it (listen to mp3's on my flash drive 100% of the time), but may be interested in the traffic once the trial ends.

I was quoted at $43.89 for the year for traffic alone - that is, I don't need to subscribe to audio to get traffic only.

Oddly enough, the guy (woman? couldn't tell) quoted me $109.45 for weather only for a year, or if you get weather and traffic, it's $9.99/month or ~$120 for year for both.

that's because they have free trial week once in awhile and send signal to turn all the radios on.

The Next free trial week is from FEB 1 to 14. So don't forget to listen to SiriusXM free for 2 weeks.

Called XM Listener Care at 866-635-2349. Started by asking what special offers they had. Prices were higher than I would like to pay, so I started asking about just NAVTraffic. Again quotes were a little too high, $220/year just for traffic. Said I'm not interested then. She offered me XM Select with NAVTraffic for $85/year. I said that sounded better, but I'm going to have to think about it. Then offered me a "one-time" $15 credit dropping it to $70/year. I said ok let's go for that. Settled the bill upfront and got another $5 credit.

$220/yr just for traffic?!@# They quoted me $43.89 (tax included) for traffic only for a year.

It's been almost 1 1/2 months now with the car. I can count on one hand how many times i've listened to xm radio - zero (0)! For $40ish a year, I may renew the traffic, but any more and they can go right ahead and cancel it.

I'm hooked on XM, absolutely love the stations. To each their own. I can't remember exactly how much my renewal was but with traffic/weatherxm select it was about $200. I renewed for a year to get the best rate.

I let mine expire after the 3 month trial. They called yesterday and asked me sign up for XM Select for 1/2 off for one year. I think she said $85. I said how much to add Navtraffic? She said $50 extra. I said no, and she said how bout music plus Nav traffic for 5 months for $24.99? Told her I had to think about it. So far I'm only missing not having the Nav Traffice. I can stream my iphone tunes or Pandora for free, so I really don't miss the music channels.

I would like to know more about this! Do you need to do anything to get the free trial or does it just magicly work for 2 weeks? This will be sweet to try out.

I have an XM subscription and I am not receiving the free trial. When I switch to "traffic" settings I get an error message that
XM NavTraffic subscription is required

Do I have to do anything else?

question about the service though. Does it alert you to so called "safety" cameras, like speed trap cameras and red light cameras, or is it just traffic conditions like google maps?
