Ditto ^^^^^^ I ran a seperate switched power lead and have it coming out next to the mirror. I've got the detector mounted from the windsheild just above where the tint starts and you can't even see it from outside the car.
I also purchased a set of M27 laser "shifters" which I was going to install (much more effective than the BEL ones); but don't think I'm going to be holding on to the car, so they're going up for sale. They're brand new in the box, and were purchased from an authorized seller in case anyone is interested.

Can the passport display of teh 9500ci be put into a gentex mirror so when it goes off you can see it but when the system is off you can see it. Kinda of like how they ahve the compass hidden in the mirror. I know the valentine one has this option to hide in the mirror.

Agree, Apples to Apples comparison for the V1 would be the 9500ix available in the same price area. As far as V1 being best, guess again. It's apparent in this article why the escorts don't offer directionalization, it leads to excessive falses from building reflection. If that's not enough, consider there's a whole range of speed hazards the V1 doesn't even see, there really is no comparison to the 9500ix either.
I have used Valentine One since its debut in 1992. It's saved me countless times. I'm on my 3rd unit. Twice, I have returned an outdated unit and they sent me a new one with the latest technology updates for about half the cost of a new unit.
2. For pure radar detection, research conducted by GuysofLidar.com shows V1 still king of the hill (in All Bogeys mode). I question the bias of the author of the article you cite.
3. You make a good point about GPS technology. I don't know why V1 has not incorporated it into their systems. I'm sure they've studied it.
In the meantime, I will purchase a Cheetah C50 to alert me to speed cameras, red light cameras, known speed traps, known accident sites, etc. Frankly, I only use my V1 on the highways and freeways. Around town, I don't drive like a bat out of hell.

my 8500 has shut down while on. the only way i found out was that it did not false at a spot i know it usually goes off. if the 9500 has any similar sporadic failures, then you will never know. my valentine one has never had a single failure to detect a signal, real or false.

Passport 9500ix hands down. Also, in response to the gps ignoring a cop in supermarket, different structures will emit different frequencies. So for example a annoying supermarket center will be ignored by the third pass because the radar will recognize the frequency as a false alarm. However, if a new frequency, like a powerful k or ka frequency which most likely is a cop, appears you will be alerted even if their car was parked inside a supermarket surrounded with radar! Haha also, you can manually lock out or not lock out a signal. Also, to set you ar ease a cop happened to sit near a few stores on mat way to work but even after 3 consecutive times passing this cop instead of just locking out the signal, it asked me would you like to
Lock out? And i smartly said no. Once again if you only do highway driving then get a v1 otherwise get a 9500ix, best on market hands down!
* I have owned both as well as a passport 8500 x50 and still this radar amazes me!

It shut down due to a lose wire going from the power cord into the radar. It's common for that model. Send it in to escort and they will fix it for 50 dollars.

Just a heads up for 9500ci owners and other laser jammers. There is a product coming out called laser tamer that is supposed to make install a lot mrs stealthy. You install jammers behind bumper and run these from jammers to the front. Works for rear as well. On the 9500 ci's zr4 heard it will do jtg.
Also for the zr4 there was a mod done by mem-tech that did wonders but haven't seen much more about it.

if i had been going the other direction, i may have gotten a ticket because my 8500 would not have gone off on the speed trap. again, my v1 which is in my g has always worked and never malfunctioned in this manner. i still like the escort, but am always weary until i hear it go off for a false reading. if a 9500 ever did this, you would never know.

although it was a speed trap, are you sure they were running radar? Also, was the cvs open? When they are closed or door is not working your radar will not go off becuase the x signal is not being emmitted.
