[Solved] G37 Bluetooth audio A2DP skipping/hesitating
I just bought a 2010 G37 Journey + Prem + Navi. When I try to connect my iPhone 3G ver 3.13 as a streaming audio device, the audio skips every 4 seconds or so for a quarter second.
A2DP implementation is very poor. My phone plays correctly on 2 other cars (honda and bmw)
anyone else having issues ?

Solution did not last beyond 1 day. :-(. On a related note, i got a chance to play
with a friends iPhone 3GS for a few hours. A2DP integration seemed to be
seamless on the 3GS. Anyone tried a 3GS instead of 3G ?

Ok, I have some great news for 2010 G37 owners frustrated with A2DP Bluetooth streaming from an iPhone.
I believe , I found a solution, although I have tested it for 1 day only and its long term viability is unknown, but
still, today while driving to work, I had the 1st uninterrupted 40 minute bluetooth streaming experience ever! I tested
various types of audio -
iPod (on iPhone)
Various bit rates (92-196k)
Apps (on iPhone)
Pandora
Youtube
Rhapsody
Here is the solution at a high level
1) Reset settings to default on G37 (bluetooth name, pin)
2) Do a "hard reset" of iPhone (home+power for 8 seconds)
3) Pair as audio device first.
In detail.....
Start with a clean slate
1) Remove the G37 as a bluetooth device on the iphone (Settings->Bluetooth->Select G37->Forget this device)
2) Remove the iPhone and every other phone from G37's bluetooth list (Settings->Bluetooth->Select Device->Delete)
3) Turn off the car (or atleast the Bluetooth module) in the car (Settings->Bluetooth->Off)
Car config
4) On the G37, turn bluetooth back on. Now restore the name of the bluetooth back to "MY-CAR". Set the pin back to the default "1234". I had changed
both of these to custom values. This was surely a factor in the stuttering bluetooth (Settings->Bluetooth)
iPhone config
5) On the iPhone, perform a "hard reset" by pressing Home + Power button. Ignore the red slider that asks you to turn off the phone and continue pressing.
Soon you will see the apple logo and after a minute or so, the iPhone will start. This is different from a restart. This is a very important step, dont skip this
Pair phone to car
6) Pair the Iphone as an AUDIO device first before paring as a phone.
a) Enter the Bluetooth settings page on the iphone (Settings->Bluetooth). Ensure that the device is in discovery mode
b) Enter the Bluetooth settings screen on the car (Settings->Bluetooth). Attempt to connect iPhone. Select NO on the screen where it asks
you if you want to connect a phone device.
c) If you have to select a pin - select 1234
d) Ensure connection
7) Pair the iPhone as a phone
a) On the car, select connected devices, select phone, select your phone, select Connect!
Thats it - Enjoy uninterrupted streaming audio
Note: I think the bluetooth device has the pin 1234 hardcoded in their logic as with the My-Car name. This was a big part of the problem. This made the A2DP streaming 80% better.
Doing a hard reset on the iPhone did the rest

To be honest, I usually plug my iphone in anyway, just for the ability to actually control it through the car, but the few times I was lazy and just went to bluetooth streaming it did drop out if I switched to something else and tried to come back.

Because most of us with iphones have our entire music library on our phones, update our phones a lot more often than our ipods, and take our iphones everywhere we go. So, while leaving an ipod plugged in may seem easier, it's only easier as long as you don't plan on ever updating your music library

hopefully Apple and Infiniti get some kind of updates out so that the problems with the iPhones get worked out

My dealer inspected my car today. We were able to recreate the skipping issue but Infiniti/my dealer could not do anything beyond acknowledging that this was a prevalent problem with other 2010 G37's. Infiniti tech line said that a lot of users had complained but they have no fix yet.
However there was a software update for the Radio's SEEK function that they applied.
My suggestion is to call Infiniti and pressure them to fix this.
So skipping continues. :-(
