^^^XACTLY!!!! LOL. People are really overreacting by calling this dangerous. You're not looking anywhere different then where you look for countless other things like radio station, Navi, CD, etc... SAME SCREEN!!!

Why would you need to look at your rear view camera when driving forward?

Yeah well true but what will keep your attention more a moving object or a stationary wording like navi. Just like texting and driving its almost the same thing because you are looking at a different thing while driving but as you know texting and driving is a big big big reason why people get into accidents.

Kinda like this car.

Yeah but I don't want anyone crashing into me while they are looking at some thing other than the road. I still love my G.

Why have a mirror at all then? Just to do your makeup while you are parked?

Actually, the camera view could be useful to look at what (or who) I just ran over while I was distracted by looking at the song info on my XM radio.

It's not like we are talking about watching a Sofia Vergara movie on the screen, just a glance behind, same as with the mirrors (the view in those is "moving" too). Personally, as I stated earlier, I don't think the ability to do this with the camera is very useful at all. But, it's no more dangerous to do so then the countless other distractions we subject ourselves to.

I use it all the time when changing lanes. Our G's have pretty bad blind spots.

What is so unsafe about it? In the future they will eliminate your side view mirrors in the name of fuel economy and styling. Instead you will have mini LCD monitors inside the car that will give you a better field of vision than any mirror can give.

Interestingly, Acura has been toying with the idea of a mirror light camera in lieu of side view mirrors. They've used it on a couple of concepts.

Not ones that the camera can take care of in place of properly setting your mirrors. I don't beleive this to be dangerous, although if gives you one more thing you are trying to look at. Also you are trying to use it for a function it was not designed for etc etc. Once again a G is a pretty small car, it's not an RV. This is very unessecary.

My mirrors are set-up correctly, but there's still a significant blind spot. It also doesn't help that both my kids child seats cover the rear windows.

This "hack" is obviously not meant as the solution, but every bit helps.

Cool trick u may not have known about your G

I found out this cool thing u can do with ur g. It's a dealer trick. Ur able to run a self diagnosis, test your speakers, etc. you can also set ur backup camera to always stay on, even while driving. Here's how ya do it. 1st, make sure ur radio is off. 2nd, hold down the "setting" button while turning the volume **** up as if ur making the volume louder. keep turning the volume button up and Then see what happens...
