not really...I think the phone system works just fine...it's fast and easy with voice tags or using the phonebook

I have read the entire thread and commented many times throughout the thread...I just think that it's easy to use the phone system via voice/steering wheel controls

You have NAV? And you think that plodding through the lengthy, extended and completely unecessary voice feedback is a good design and useful? If so, you are a dream customer for any car company!

I went from a No Nav 08' to a Nav 10'. On my 2008, I was able to press the steering wheel button and immediately say "Call...John...mobile" all in one sentence and it would call. Now you have to say "phone"...then "vehicle phonebook"...etc.

In addition, on the 2008, it seemed much easier inputting contacts by voice. I can input multiple phone #'s for the same person...where as on the 2010...it seems I have to input separate entries for the same person if they have mobile, office, home, etc.

Am I missing something or does the Nav version just make it that much more difficult? Please note that I have not really messed with it too much..partly because it seems so complicated. With the 08...I didn't even have to look at the manual.

with nav you just push the voice button, say "phonebook" then say "xxxx" and it dials...that doesn't seem lengthy and difficult to me

Some of cannot get that functionality. If it worked that way, there would be few or no complaints. So how did you get your "lady" to shut up and allow a one-step procedure? What settings are you using, because the rest of us can't get it to work so simply. There are multiple, uninteruptible steps and prompts along the way just to dial a person who is ALREADY in your phonebook. You do have NAV, right??????

Apparently only hispeed-lowdrag has figured out how to not go through the ridiculous steps that you and the rest of us are describing and complaining about. Let's await his reply to be relieved of the insanity!

yes, the only option for the G I don't have is the 4WAS.

I turned on the "alternate voice control" or "full voice control" whatever it's called and there's also an option for "abbreviated prompts" so she talks less...then I push the voice button on the bottom left of the wheel, the different options show on the screen, I say "phonebook" then it shows the first page of my phonebook, and I say "xxxxx" and it dials whatever voice tag I say...takes maybe 7 seconds total before it's ringing

I'll pull up the navi manual and see if I can find the exact page #'s for the different toggles so you guys can see exactly what I did

Ok, GOT IT!

On, page 9-15 and 9-24 of the navi manual it describes how to do this, but I will walk you through it here too

-push [SETTINGS]
-select [OTHERS]
-select [VOICE RECOGNITION]
-toggle ON [ALTERNATE COMMAND MODE]
-toggle ON [MINIMIZE VOICE FEEDBACK]

and there you go...it allows you to say TONS more option in the voice system, as well as the lady talking a whole lot less. I hope this helps!! (And shows the value of reading the manual for those of you who think its worthless )

and here is the link to the online manual for the 08-09 G37 Coupe/Sedan

Yeah, I have that on too. What I was saying before is even with those settings enabled, you can't just push the button and say "call Joe." It's still "phonebook" (wait for prompt) "joe" (wait for prompt) "dial".

yeah that's true you can't just say "call joe"

I guess it just doesn't seem like a big deal to me...having it the way it is (with those settings on) is plenty speedy for what I need

So as I said before, you are a model customer for a car company. The rest of us have higher expectations about how electronics should work in an efficient manner. The Nav-phone Bluetooth dialing process is ridiculous, pedantic, redundant...I could keep going, but there is no point. That would make it as slow and plodding as the dialing process itself.

I guess I am

I absolutely love the G and sure, the bleutooth interface could be better and faster, but when it really comes down to it the difference between dialing in 10 seconds and instantly just isn't something that gets me worked up, I'm too busy having fun on the drive
