JL 250/1 capable?

i have spent last few hours reading through numerous posts...and yes, searching...unable to find definative answer to following:

is a JL 250/1 v2 amp sufficient to power JL 10w6 v2 subwoofer (single one)?

im not looking to wake the neighbours however i am lookin for that clean, crisp punch....if it is sufficient, would i be operating the amp at its limit? therefore potentially damaging it and/or drastically shortening its lifespan?

much appreciated!

250/1 will provide minimal power to the 10w6v2. You'll need a 500/1v2 amp for the 10W6 sub. Or get a 10w3v3 sub to go along with your 250/1.

The W6 is a lot of bass...if you only want to push 250W (which is quite a bit, really) then just get the W3...it's a great sub when I had one, but I know they've changed revisions several times since i've owned one.

yeah i dont want to overpower the rest of the system (i have no plans to upgrade anything else)...so you figure the W3 will give me what im after...clean, crisp punch? i would prefer something a little more economical- the 500/1 + W6 + enclosure just does not sit well with me (cost) if all i want to do is add what is missing in our cars...

+1 on the 10w3v3 + 250/1v2 combo. I think that will give you what you are looking for.

You can always turn it down...But you can't always turn it up.

That is true...but I personally think if you're not upgrading any other components, then a 10W3 w/ 250W is enough. I plan on doing a 10W6 with a 900/5 and a full system replacement with the CleanSweep I already have.

Cost isn't too bad....i just ordered a 10W6v2, a 500/1 amp w/ remote gain control cable, and a box for the sub for $680 shipped.

Look on other audio forums in the classifieds section...you can usually find something. I just bought the 10w6v2 for $185 shipped (used) at caraudio.com forums. Now I'm just waiting to find a good used 500w amp!
