Adding music to hard drive...

Well, I just want to get as much info before I go in to my local dealer tomorrow to wheel-and-deal for a '10 xS.

Question is, how do you add music to the hard drive? Will it copy from a CD, or do you need a flash drive of some sorts?

I have a feeling I'm going to have to do some digging for a few of my old keychain flash drives. They are around here somewhere... lol

From a CD only. Just put the CD in and hit the record button and it rips it to the HD. No flash drive.

There's a check box that asks if you want CD's to be recorded all the time upon insertion. I believe it takes about 10 minutes per CD. I'm recording at 132.

Ah nice... even store bought CDs? It'll encode/rip them? if so, are there bitrate settings, etc?

With the 2010 Nav, you only have 2. A maximum of 132

Hmmm. Sweet. I'm picking up a '10 this weekend.

Can you save store bought CDs to the HD?

Are you sure Jeremy? Even my 07 offers ripping at different bit rates.

'09 has 2 bitrate settings: 105 or 132 kbps (default). The setting is in the Musicbox menu just below the Automatic Recording setting.
