G37 now charges iPhone?

I had my car in for service twice so far and prior to that my iPhone would not charge with the provided cable and I had known about this already.

I hooked it up this morning to listen to some tunes and noticed that it was being charged. Was there a software update or something? I have a 2009 G37 Journey sedan.

Hey I don't mean to threadjack, but while we are on the subject of charging Apple products, which iPod classic should I get (like 2nd or 3d gen) that would charge with the supplied cable and ALSO turn off when the car is turned off? I am thinking about the 160 GB one just to have in the car all the time, but which gen?

Hmm . . . as far as i know, it is the actual hardware that needs to be updated for the 3g or later iphones to charge. So unless the charging cable was changed . . . .

I got a 120GB 5th GEN Classic, and it does the trick just fine.

I have an iPhone 4 with iOs 4.3.2 and it charges just fine. Older iOS I found you needed to turn of the radio (GSM Radio) as the settings would stop charging due to over heating when using the phone with un-licensed accessories. Not sure if you all have the latest iOS..
