10" vs 8" JL Sub

10" vs 8" JL Sub
Trying to decide between a 10" or 8" JL sub for g37 Sedan. This would be located in the trunk. I am not a bass head, so I am wondering if the 10" would be too much.
In the end, I don't want to spend extra on a 10" and have the amp turned all the way down.

I would still recommend a 10" sub. You get better overall frequency response and quick tight bass. If your not into a lot of bass I would get a JL Audio 10W1V2 sub and a JL Audio 250/1v2 amp. That would give you your clean low end your looking for and would not break the bank.
I had a 10w6 sub and 500/1 amp and it was overkill. I even like a lot of bass.

That's exactly what you want. Not a huge price difference between the 8" and 10" of the same sub usually. And there's no replacement for displacement. You're better off having a larger sub with better power handling capability running at half power from your amp than a smaller sub running at full power. Your amplifier's amplifier gain control is not a volume ****.

I just got a 10" JL W6v2 pro wedge with a J2 500.1 JL mono amp. Unfortunately they don't make a stealth box for the sedan and I got tired of waiting. To be honest, it's almost overkill with that much power, but I was able to tune the amp so that it compliments the bose better. But yes, I have the amp turned down pretty far. Funny thing is the bose system sounded so much better in my 04 coupe.
